Star builder Graya acquires prime Gold Coast site after year-long search

The Burleigh Heads property purchased by Graya founder Rob Gray and wife Meghan.
Celebrity builders Graya will undertake their first Gold Coast project after securing a prime Burleigh Heads site that also caught the eye of AFL WAG royalty Bec Judd.
The $2.78m beachside acquisition marks a departure from the commanding inner-city abodes for which the luxury construction company founded by Brisbane brothers, Rob and Andrew Gray, is famed.

A four-bedroom oceanview home currently on the 531sq m block will be replaced by a cutting-edge holiday house for Rob and wife, Meghan, who are expecting their first child in August.
Mr Gray said the home would echo the company’s avant-garde design principles but was ultimately inspired by childhood memories.

“Our family has holidayed at Rainbow Bay and Coolangatta all our lives,” Mr Gray said.
“We’ve spent a lot of time on the Gold Coast and that’s been our family go-to — now with my brother and I starting our own families, we wanted to create our own place there.”
Celebrities who share Mr Gray’s soft spot for the Gold Coast include Rebecca ‘Bec’ Judd, business owner and wife of retired AFL great, Chris Judd, who inquired about the same Burleigh property when she visited the area in January.
Mr Gray revealed the Judds had already consulted Graya about helping bring to realisation dreams of creating their own holiday pad along the Coast’s coveted southern stretch.
Bec Judd also wants to buy in Burleigh
The Graya purchase marks the end of a year-long search for the perfect beachside block. The design is yet to be finalised but will draw inspiration from Larc, their $8m Hamilton project on a hillside site with similar attributes to the Burleigh block.
“Burleigh Heads is the hottest real estate market in Queensland at the moment, and with no beachfront homes in Burleigh and only a few sites on the ridgeline, it was an easy decision to purchase with the hill being the obvious nice spot to be,” Mr Gray said.
He said Meghan would be actively involved in the design, following their close collaboration on Arcos, their palatial family home in Paddington built in 2020.
“We will try and do something different again,” Mr Gray said.
“We want it to be a coastal vibe, of course. It’s a beach house so we definitely want to take it in that direction and create a design that’s very user friendly.”
Mr Gray will compete a small renovation so the family can enjoy stays here while grand plans are finalised.

Sotheby’s International agent Scott Keatley said the Burleigh property had been on the market for about four months, despite its enviable location just minutes from the beach and popular cafes and boutiques of James St.
“We had a lot of inquiry from Sydney and Melbourne, but many people saw it as too challenging,” Mr Keatley said.
