‘Farmhouse’ display home is Coast’s richest sale of the week

Al fresco living at 9 Tallai Rd
An acreage display home in Tallai inspired by a modern farmhouse has sold for $5.6m in the Gold Coast’s richest property transaction of the week.
The 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom property at 9 Tallai Rd was sold fully furnished and came complete with a spectacular guesthouse and lavish entertaining areas.
It was marketed by Sam Guo and Julia Kuo, of Kollosche.

The pool is flanked by a barbecue terrace and separate pavilion
Three years in the making, the 2019-built home has never been lived in but was on display as the “supreme version” of Metricon’s Signature range, showcasing top-of-the-line fixtures and fittings available to customers wishing to build their own home.
Mr Guo said the single-level home, known as The Fontaine, presented excellent value for buyers and attracted strong interest through the sales campaign.
It sold to a large local family, who planned to use the one-bedroom guesthouse as accommodation for their adult son.

“This was a very well-designed, high-quality build with premium finishes and the sale price was way below replacement value,” Mr Guo said.
“The buyers loved the design and the large size, and with two acres of land they also have the option to put another residence at the front in the future.”
Features of the 8,094 sqm property include a weatherboard and stone facade with porte-cochere entry, while inside elegant interiors with pendant lighting, timber flooring and decorated joinery are crowned with vaulted ceilings.

Wide stacked doors connect open-plan living spaces to resort-style al fresco spaces, with a pool flanked by a barbecue terrace complete with a stone fireplace as well as a separate pavilion with a bar.
There’s also a home cinema and flash office, while the master bedroom with its own fireplace and lounge, huge ensuite and dressing room.
PropTrack data shows house prices in Tallai were down 4.8 per cent over the past 12 months to a median of $1.5m.
Records show Metricon Homes bought the block for $950,000 in 2017 and sold the property in 2022 for $5.5m — $500,000 above the list price — to a vendor who took it to market again this year without having moved in.
