Palm Beach’s ‘Jefferson’ the most viewed Gold Coast home

A ONE-OF-A-KIND beach villa where you walk under a glass-floor pool has emerged as king of the Gold Coast this week.
The property named Jefferson at 136 Jefferson Lane, Palm Beach was this week the most viewed Gold Coast property on realestate.com.au and the sixth viewed in the state.
Vendor Nick McDonald, the director of high-end building firm Mactech Constructions, and his wife Bridgette are behind the property which hit the market last week.

Mr McDonald has built more than 50 projects on the Coast over 12 years and knew he wanted to build something special for himself.
“The goal was to create something unique and different that is a bit of a showstopper,” Mr McDonald said.
“I was trying to bring that high-end luxury home into the duplex market.”
The glassbottom pool and greenery are the showstopper features of the home.
The villa blends indoor and outdoor living.
The pool has glass edges as well as a glass bottom.
The couple bought the block – which fronts both Jefferson Lane and the Gold Coast Highway – in early 2020 and took their ideas to rising star designer Jayson Pate.
“We went to him with a bit of a concept and a bit of a sketch with the feature pool and he filled in the gaps,” Mr McDonald said.
“It was a narrow site and we had to fit a lot in to get everything to work.
“It’s one thing to build a duplex on a tight site but we wanted to design it so when you’re walking through it doesn’t feel like a small space.
“We wanted it to feel like a home.”

The kitchen opens out to the alfresco area and pool.
The end result is two jaw-dropping residences with glass bottom pools and cascading greenery the showstopper features of the property.
The couple offloaded the northern villa early in the picture but kept the southern villa for themselves.
Inside, a mixture of stone and natural materials softened with plants ensures you always have something to look at.
“We wanted to keep it simplistic but have enough features in the right areas to keep you entertained through the whole journey of the house,” Mr McDonald said.
The attention to detail is obvious throughout the home.
The gym.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom 480 sqm resort-style villa, which was completed in September, 2021, is built over three levels and blends indoor and outdoor living spaces.
The kitchen has VJ and exposed rafter ceilings as well as venetian plaster rendered bench tops with the latest SMEG appliances.
There is an open plan living area beside the kitchen with natural stone cladding surrounding a ventless fireplace.
Feel a million miles away in the main bedroom.
Greenery softens the home.
Mr McDonald said apart from the pool, one of his favourite features was the main bedroom on the upper floor.
“When you’re in bed or the bath the high ceilings and greenery really gives you that outside-inside feel,” he said.
Other standout features include a walk-in wine tasting cellar room, sonos audio system, gym, infra-red sauna, cinema, four-car garage, loft, and keyless entry.
The property is on the market with Ed Cherry of Harcourts Coastal at offers over $4 million.
Natural elements paired with plants create a dreamy vibe.
