14 Rudd Street, Burleigh Heads, is on the market for the first time in 70 years.
AN original home in a prime position on Burleigh Headland has hit the market for the first time in its 70-year history.
Situated at 14 Rudd Street, the site was bought by the Moneypenny family of Brisbane more than seven decades ago as an ideal block of land on which to park their home-made caravan.
Eric and May Moneypenny first bought the site as a place to park their home-made holiday caravan.
Over the years Eric and May Moneypenny built a holiday house on the site, integrating the caravan into the build. Parts of the original van, such as the kitchen and bench seat, are still visible in the home today.

Marketing agent Conal Martin of Kingfisher Realty said he expects the site to attract multimillion-dollar bids when it goes to auction on September 4.
They then built a house with the caravan at its heart.
Featuring four bedrooms and two bathrooms on a 405sq m block, the property passed to the Moneypenny’s two daughters Pamela Mitchell and Dianne Keller in 1996 and has been a place for weekend getaways, summer breaks, residential stints and even Schoolies celebrations for six generations.
The sisters say it will be an emotional sale for the family but the time is right to move on.
The caravan’s kitchen and bench seating are still part of the house today.
Ms Mitchell, 79, who lives on a rural property west of Brisbane, said: “We have so many fond memories over so many decades. I remember my grandparents holidaying in the caravan and I lived in the house for almost two years.
“Six generations of our family have benefited from Mum and Dad’s decision to buy that block of land all those years ago.”
The house has been a holiday home for six generations of the Moneypenny family.
She said her handyman father built the original caravan out of plywood before turning his attention to creating the holiday home.
“The house is a tribute not only to Dad’s skill and ability, but his love for Mum,” she said.
“Dad just adored our mother and he built the house for her. It was originally just four walls and we all slept in one room on camp stretchers. I remember my uncle and cousin helping dig out the foundations. There were no drills in those days – they just used picks, shovels and wheelbarrows.”
It has original, retro-style interiors.
Mr Martin said the sale was a rare opportunity to secure a prime piece of real estate and he had already received three written offers and inquiries from as far afield as Ireland, Dubai and interstate.
“It’s quite interesting the mix of people who are interested in it,” he said. “Some want to knock it down, others just want to tidy it up and use it as a holiday rental.

Whoever manages to snag it, Mr Martin said they would have the chance to create their own dream home in a sought-after location of Burleigh.
The property is surrounded by national parklands and is only a short walk from Burleigh Beach, Tallebudgera Creek and the James Street precinct and proposed light rail stop.
