Villa Sunshine, as its namesake suggests, is an airy, light-filled showstopper pad in Miami’s popular Sunshine Pde.
It has hit the headlines in magazines and on television and has even won a Master Builders Gold Coast award for its unique design and on-trend style.

Vendors Diane and Craig Ralph bought the block in 2019 – they were living two streets away in a three-storey villa and wanted to build a single-level home.
“We actually used to walk past here regularly and Diane said ‘If this ever goes up for sale I want to buy it’,” Craig said.
“It did come up for sale but someone bought it, however, the sale ended up falling over.
“The property went back on the market and we went straight down and bought it.”

The pair enlisted designer Reece Keil of Reece Keil Designs to come up with a resort-style house that had a Balinese feel but was practical and stylish.
“We really used the entire block,” Diane said.
“We had to think of all the high properties around us and while we only wanted a single level, we didn’t want to be the little house among all the big houses.”
The couple enlisted Dawson Constructions in 2020 to build the home, which took nine months, completing in October that year.
The result exceeded both Craig and Diane’s expectations.

From the street, the property’s simple stone facade, gatehouse and pandanus tree give little away.
Inside, a mix of concrete, VJ lining, stone and textured cladding creates a clean and crisp look throughout.
Throw in hints of black, high ceilings, strategically placed windows and decking, and you’ve got yourself a year-round holiday home.
The lush, low-maintenance gardens add to the home’s ambience, with a real sense of tranquillity present in every room.
No detail has been spared in the build, which is obvious when you look at the finished product.

While it’s hard to narrow down just one favourite feature, Diane and Craig said the vaulted ceilings, suspended fireplace and outlook to the deck, alfresco kitchen and heated plunge pool were firm frontrunners.
“We’ve had Christmas out on the deck with family and friends, which was really great and we even had my son’s 25th birthday there, with a guitarist,” Diane said.

Villa Sunshine is going to auction.
One of the most surprising features, though, is tucked away in the garage – a purpose-built raised dog wash station.
The pair have two French bulldogs and said a dog wash was a necessity for their beloved pooches.
Other extras include a study, butler’s pantry, solar panels, CCTV and a four-car garage.
The property is set to go under the hammer through Harcourts Coastal’s Hanan Cawley.
