Record sale for dreamy Mediterranean farmhouse

Sophie and Michael Bell with children, Hendrix, 6, and Peppa, 3, have sold their luxury Tweed Coast property
A luxurious Mediterranean farmhouse has sold for a record $3.3m — with the aspirational property’s lucrative internet brand included in the deal.
The white-rendered dream home in the Tweed Coast Hinterland was built by Sophie Bell, founder of creative design agency Peppa Hart, and her husband, Michael.
It was designed by Peppa Hart in collaboration with Three Birds Renovations, and became a top photo shoot location for Australian and international fashion labels.
Known as Casa Campana, the property was snapped up by Sydney couple, Olivia and Marcus Burgess, who will retain its coveted brand and take on forward bookings for the location.
Imagine holidaying here
The property on a 1.31ha rainforest block at Nunderi in the hills behind Casuarina Beach was marketed by Brent Savage and Ethan Price, of LS Properties.
Mr Savage said the sale was a record price for the area and included the home’s furnishings, among them many custom pieces designed to enhance the home’s European ambience, as well as business assets including the Instagram account and website.
Ms Burgess said she and her husband were looking for an investment property to build on their previous experience managing short-term rentals.
“Our plan is to rent it out for the summer and maybe do a few weddings and a few events there,” Ms Burgess said.
Christmas and New Year bookings were still available, she said.
“I think the way Sophie designed it is so beautiful.
“It’s just so different to anything I’ve ever seen before and it kind of felt like you were in Europe somewhere.”

Casa Campana has an Instagram following of almost 19,000, but Ms Burgess said she first discovered the property via an article shared by realestate.com.au.
“We flew up for the day to see it, and it’s even more amazing in person than in the photos,” she said.
The couple and their three children, Jessica, 13, Ollie, 11 and Felix, 6, plan on relocating from their Northern Beaches home to live in Casa Campana next year.
Mr Savage said the property had attracted multiple offers during the two-month campaign.
“It was still a hotly contested campaign and the house definitely attracted some high-profile people from Sydney to Melbourne within that type of creative audience,” Mr Savage said.
Casa Campana’s four-bedroom, two-bathroom home was built over ten months in 2019.

Open-plan living surrounded by rainforest
Among the property’s more quirky features are two chic cubby houses — one for the kids with a rooftop slide, and another for the adults, complete with stylish bar and daybed.
The cute hideaways were a lockdown project and captured global attention after a video the Bell family posted to social media went viral.
The all-white theme is carried to the glamorous pool and pavilion with wood-fired pizza oven, bar, and daybed.
Inside, the main bedroom is a true retreat, with its built-in king bed, lavish ensuite, and wide arched glass doors opening onto a balcony.
There are several open-plan living and entertaining spaces, and a large home office studio that was the base for Peppa Hart’s team of six.
