5 McMillan Court, Southport sold for a record $23.75 million through Amir Prestige.
THE number of properties selling for more than $6 million on the Gold Coast has almost tripled over the past 12 months.
Cashed-up buyers are behind the mammoth jump with 33 properties already sold this year at more than $6 million each.
7-13 King Arthurs Court, Sovereign Islands has sold for $20 million.
Last year just 12 properties changed hands with individual prize tags of more than $6 million.
Multi-millionaire Clive Palmer is behind the latest mega sale on the Gold Coast.
Earlier this month he dropped a cool $20 million to acquire the futuristic-looking house adjoining his existing Sovereign Islands home.
On the Gold Coast, Mr Palmer’s purchase sits only behind the sale of 5 McMillan Court in Southport which was last week revealed to have settled for $23.75 million to an unreported buyer.
It is the highest sale recorded in Queensland this year.
159 Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach sold for $15.75 million in January.
Property experts are tipping a stellar end to the year with the prestige market showing no sign of slowing down.
Amir Mian, principal of Amir Prestige, said there was a huge appetite for prestige property on the Gold Coast.
“As we achieve more and more high end sales, it gives buyers and sellers both a guide of where things are heading,” Mr Mian, who was behind the McMillan Court record sale, said.
“Moving forward, the groundwork is done. The prestige market is established and it’s in demand but in short supply.”
