Tammy and Fraser Kahler bought the block in 2019 after being drawn to its location and size.
“We just loved the position,” Ms Kahler said.
“It is so close to Nobby Beach but is on the water.”
At the time the site was home to 1970s brick house which the couple were keen to renovate, but after discovering the house was subsiding, they decided to opt for something new.

Their vision was to create a family home with a coastal vibe that embraced the waterfront lifestyle.
“We wanted there to be a balance of function and aesthetic,” Ms Kahler said.
“The brief was to build a coastal inspired, easy living family home that catered for growing teenage children.”

The house is set on one side of a large 1329sq m block.

“I really love cooking and entertaining, so the kitchen, with its butler’s pantry, two ovens and two dishwashers, is built with that in mind.
“Then there’s also the built-in barbecue which looks out over the pool area.”

The property is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, yet is within walking distance of Nobby Beach.
“It’s a beautiful street in a great neighbourhood,” Ms Kahler said.
“You can ride to the beach for a swim or head to Nobby’s for dinner.
“It’s a great waterfront lifestyle, where you can have paddle board and kayak or have a boat and easily get out to the Nerang River.”

With the home deliberately built on one half of the block, Ms Kahler also noted the property had been approved for subdivision.
“Our intention was to build something smaller on that block that we could move into once the children had left home, but the options are endless,” she said.
“You could subdivide, build something, or simply enjoy the space.”
The coastal inspired Mermaid Waters home is listed with Eoghan Murphy of Kollosche and is set to go to auction on March 26.
