Mei and Michael Hagen bought the home as their family residence in 2014 after being drawn to its ambience and location.
“The first thing we saw was that incredible water view of the lake and it just felt so calm and peaceful,” Mrs Hagen said.
“There are a lot of canals on the Gold Coast, but there aren’t that many where you can’t see houses across the way.
“Here, there was green space all around and it felt like a sanctuary.”

The house provides a private setting for its residents.
With lush gardens surrounding the home.

During their 10 years living there, the Hagens also sought to increase that resort-style feel.
In 2019 they completed a major renovation that included adding an indoor pool and a private dance studio that doubles as a multipurpose area and has its own private Japanese-style steam room with outdoor bath.
“It started when it became apparent that we had to fix the old pool, and basically the plans kept getting grander and grander,” Mrs Hagen said.
“Our children were both dancing at the time, so we wanted to create a dance studio with a sprung floor, and we also added a sound system, projector and screen so it can be used as a multipurpose room.”

Mrs Hagen noted the indoor pool allowed for year-round swimming while also reducing maintenance, and the size and layout of the home made it ideal for entertaining.
“It’s a brilliant house for guests,” she said.
“We’ve had quite a few parties here which have been fabulous as everyone can congregate where they want, yet it’s so private.
“My parents have also come from Malaysia to stay every now and then and they just love it here.”

As for her favourite areas within the home, Mrs Hagen said the family spent a lot of time in the main living area overlooking the pool and also enjoyed gathering in the recently renovated kitchen.
“I love to cook and it’s a really easy kitchen as there’s so much space so everyone can be there working together.”

But most of all, Mrs Hagen said the home had offered her family a haven where they could relax and spend quality time together.
“We’ve had a busy 10 years and this place has been a sanctuary and space where our family has thrived,” she said.
“You could be in another country, it’s so tranquil, you look out to Robina Island and it’s like every day is a holiday, yet its location is incredible.
“It’s close to shopping centres, schools and everything you need.”

With the family now relocating to Brisbane, Mrs Hagen said they had made the hard decision to part with their much-loved Gold Coast haven.
“We have so many great memories, and we’re reluctant to leave, but we hope another family will enjoy the space as much as we have.”
