Award-winning Banksia House listed for sale

Banksia House at Casuarina Beach
Just like the hardy native flora of its namesake, Banksia House is an unexpectedly beautiful yet resilient response to the harsh coastal environment.
And like the jagged flower, this award-winning home not only withstands the elements, but also responds with elegance to the ever-changing seasons along the northern NSW coastline.
Completed in 2020, the contemporary build at 12 Beason St was designed by Aphora Architecture, and received this year’s prestigious Philip Follent Award for House of the Year Gold Coast and Northern Rivers.
The home’s design takes cues from its natural surroundings
It is marketed via an expressions of interest campaign with LJ Hooker Kingscliff agents, Nick Witheriff and Brian Dangerfield.
Located behind the sand dunes of Casuarina Beach, the home makes considered use of natural and textural materials and finishes throughout.
The exterior is formed from masonry blockwork and charred Japanese timber, while inside dramatic raked ceilings and clerestory windows allow air to flow and light to warm polished concrete floors.

Custom doors and windows are crafted from New Guinea rosewood.
“This single-level residence on a corner block co-exists in harmony with its beachside setting and embraces the best of both sustainability and style,” Mr Witheriff said.
“Concrete block walls contrast and complement this coastal setting.
“Their solidity acts as a counter point to the shifting sands, yet their colour and texture are in synergy with the beach.”

Blackbutt kitchen cabinetry complements a stainless steel benchtop
In the open-plan living and dining zone, blackbutt kitchen cabinetry complements the continuous stainless steel benchtop and Italian marble splashback.
There are four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a powder room, while the master suite is a special retreat with its own private courtyard and outdoor shower.
Living spaces flow onto a central courtyard, where the owners, a retired couple, spent quiet moments relaxing in the dappled sunlight and soaking in the sounds of the beach and surrounding wildlife.
The house was constructed over 12 months by JMG Build.
