You can be sipping beers on your back veranda on South Stradbroke Island before you can finish saying snap lockdown.

A prominent Queensland marine industry family are selling their South Stradbroke home, with everything down to the cutlery included.
When facing a snap lockdown, the island home at 140 Bruce Small Drive South could be a perfect last-minute getaway.

Take a 15-minute boat crossing from Sanctuary Cove or the ferry from Marina Mirage and you could be quaffing beers in the bar on the back deck of this coastal abode in less than an hour of leaving the house.

The house is built for family living.

The Leigh-Smiths, whose family have been selling boats in Australia for five decades and who designed, built and part owned the Gold Coast City Marina at Sanctuary Cove, bought the 825q m block at 140 Bruce Small Drive South in 2017 for $405,000.

There is plenty of space for extended family.

They built a two-storey, four-bedroom home on the block and intended to stay there long-term, however, a change in family circumstances has forced them back to the mainland.

The cosy living room has a wood burner for cooler evenings.

They are now selling the waterside abode, which is still under builder’s warranty.
Filled with modern comforts such as high ceilings, polished concrete-looking floors, louvered windows, a wood fire for cooler months, and a luxury kitchen, the family has transformed the back deck into a bar, where you can pull up a stool and soak up the water views.

The back deck has a bar with a view.

Situated on a canal with a private jetty, the house is four minutes from South Stradbroke’s beaches, which you can drive to in the 4WD that comes included in the sale, along with a Mantacraft tinny.

The home has a luxury kitchen.

Selling agent Patrick Edwards of Ray White said it was the ideal escape house during a lockdown with residents also having access to the facilities of the Couran Cove Island Resort a short walk away.

The 4WD is included in the sale…

“It’s fantastic for an island escape with the property built for family living,” he said.
“The property is configured so it is easily accessible and a you can enjoy it in all weathers. It’s pet friendly too.”

… as is the tinny and all the furniture.

The property is open to expressions of interest but Mr Edwards said as comparison a vacant block nearby recently sold for $1.1 million, while a house located around the corner from Bruce Small Drive went for $2.3 million, unfurnished.
