Cashed-up young foreign investors are eyeing the chance to seize the helm of multimillionaire playboy Travers ‘Candyman’ Beynon’s notorious Candy Shop Mansion.
Beynon’s flashy Baroque-style property was revamped to appeal to a broader market, with exotic features like a stripper pole and supersized beds removed from the master bedroom.
Marketing agent Evan Molloy said international buyers were attracted by the northern Gold Coast estate’s “infamous past”, with owner and Freechoice tobacco tycoon Beynon, aka Candyman, known for his wild parties and revolving door of love interests.

“People underestimate the scale of the place until you walk through the 2000-plus sqm house, through to outside where you overlook the 250,000L infinity pool and have this massive 27-tonne statue of King Neptune,” said Mr Molloy, of Hope Island Realty.
“People are just mind-blown. Then there’s the cinema and the incredible board room with the transparent floor looking down to the showroom garage with all the Ferraris and the Lambos.
“From the front to the back, this property is amazing and for buyers, there is one ‘wow’ moment after another,” he said.

The Helensvale listing had attracted more than 1m views through social media, while more than 150 inquiries were received through realestate.com.au alone.
“Inquiries have been received from all over the world because this property is world-class,” Mr Molloy said.
“The younger wealthy people from overseas wanting a base on the Gold Coast are attracted to the property’s infamous past and they want a piece of that history, then there are other people who are attracted to it as a mega family home and a fundamentally great piece of real estate.”
Mr Molloy did not disclose details of offers received – “all I can say is, yes, we have had serious interest”.

The 2230 sqm floorplan comprises 14 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, an opulent office, 15-seat soundproof home cinema, and entertaining spaces including a ballroom crowned by an 8m void and dazzling chandelier.
Vast al fresco areas span the famed 24c gold mosaic-tiled infinity pool with swim-up bar, grotto with underground massage zone, a kids’ pool with live fish, and a fire pit.
While Beynon, 51, has not recently updated his social media account, he has 1m-plus followers and shares raunchy exploits with wife Taesha and various girlfriends.
Mr Molloy said Beynon was “leaving that lifestyle behind” as he prepared to welcome a baby boy this year. He has four other children, the youngest two with Taesha.

Mr Molloy said the home was marketed via an expressions of interest campaign as it stood in a class of its own. But he compared the wide waterfront parcel and high-quality build to top-tier properties such as Alston, a European-inspired mansion at Southport which sold under the hammer for $24.8m in September 2023, or blue-chip riverfront homes in Broadbeach Waters and Isle of Capri.
“We went for an EOI campaign because it is very hard to compare this property to anything else which has been sold. When you look at the land component and the build cost it adds up to a pretty substantial sum,” Mr Molloy said.
“It was hard to know, whether $20, 30, 40m — who knows?
“If you have a really beautiful home you’ve put your heart into, it’s all about knowing you’ve got the best possible outcome for the market you’re selling in,” he said.
Beynon bought the original block in 2010, purchasing neighbouring land four years later and extending the mansion to triple its size.
