AFL star Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin and wife Jesinta splurge on Gold Coast mansion

AFL Sydney Swans player Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin and his fashion influencer wife Jesinta splashed about $9 million on a glamorous Mediterrean mansion on the Gold Coast, weeks before listing their luxury apartment in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

The high-profile couple’s latest multimillion-dollar buy comes after Franklin signed on with the Swans for another year, days out from the team’s AFL Grand Final against Geelong.

The celebrated player and his wife, a former Miss Universe contestant and current Seafolly swimwear ambassador, this week listed their $5 million Rose Bay pad, amid persistent rumours they would relocate the Gold Coast, Jesinta’s home town.

They snapped up the sprawling luxury property known as Villa Casa after just six days on the market, smashing the previous sales record in the emerging Gold Coast hinterland suburb.

The seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom home on a 4497sq m block with panoramic views is a significant upsize for the couple and their two children, Tullulah and Rocky.

Villa Casa, designed by architect Reece Keil, captured the hearts of property watchers across the nation, taking out top spot as Australia’s most viewed home on www.realestate.com.au.

Amir Prestige principal Amir Mian and agent Justin Haynes marketed the unique European-inspired house with a price guide of between $8m and $10m.

The exact sale price has not been disclosed.

The one-of-a-kind hillside house with 180-degree views of the Gold Coast skyline combines curves and arches crafted from limestone with landscaped greenery.

The main bedroom is a showstopper, with its 4m headboard and a vaulted tunnel leading to a dressing room and ensuite.

The home has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms

Outdoor amenities are reminiscent of a resort, with a glamorous terrace running the length of the magnesium pool with swim-up bar, while there’s also a built-in barbecue, games room and living room with panoramic views.

The build was completed in November last year, with Tidal Constructions taking out the top prize for House of the Year at the Gold Coast Master Builders Awards.

The Franklins are now in search of a buyer for their four-bedroom, three-bathroom pad in Rose Bay’s designer complex, The Carlisle.

The Sydney apartment is listed with Paul Biller, of Biller Property.
