A science teacher and environmental entrepreneur is taking his own eco-friendly rainforest mansion to auction on Friday.
Owner Mark David-Tooze, a Gold Coast school teacher who founded reusable shopping bags brand Envirosax, acquired the 4.05ha parcel in Currumbin Valley 20 years ago and lived off the grid in a shed before building the jaw-dropping four-level house.
The build took four years and was completed in 2014, earning a Masters Builders Queensland award for its outstanding design.

PropTrack data shows house prices in Currumbin Valley were down 0.7 per cent over the past 12 months to a median of $1.475m.
