A buyer has paid $110,000 for a lockup garage in Surfers Paradise.
FINDING a vacant car park in Surfers Paradise can often be tricky.
But one local won’t have that problem for much longer after they splashed $110,000 on a lockup garage in the heart of the Glitter Strip.
At only 21sq m in size, that equates to just over $5200 a square metre.
Located at 46/34 Hanlan St, the garage, which is listed as a “studio”, is attached to the heritage-listed Kinkabool building in Surfers Paradise.
This garage has sold for $110,000.
LJ Hooker Palm Beach-Coolangatta-Tweed agent Mark Jensen said the amount of interest he received in the listing was “phenomenal”.
Mr Jensen said he had several potential buyers including interstate investors but it was a Gold Coast family who ended up with the contract, which went unconditional on Thursday.
“Basically the people who bought it needed it to store their car,” Mr Jensen said.
“They needed an extra car space.”
“It is a huge garage at 21sq m. A normal garage is about 14sq m.”

Property records show the garage was first listed for sale on June 4 at offers over $125,000.
It previously had a long-term tenant leasing the garage for $476 a month.
It is the first time Mr Jensen has ever listed a garage for sale on the Gold Coast, with the agent admitting he turned to colleagues in Sydney and Melbourne, where car parks occasionally are listed for sale, for advice.
