Chris Hemsworth stayed at the Mermaid Beach home while filming on the Gold Coast
A luxurious Mermaid Beach property where Hollywood heavyweight Chris Hemsworth was rumoured to have stayed while filming has changed hands in an eye-watering $19 million deal.
The off-market sale of the three-storey mansion at 1 Heron Ave to a local buyer was negotiated by Amir Mian, of Amir Prestige.
Designed by celebrated architect, Bayden Goddard, the commanding home overlooking the ocean boasts 18m of absolute beach frontage.
Modern in style, it was designed to harmonise with the surrounding elements and features a curved exterior, soaring ceilings, and full-length windows to maximise sweeping coastal views.

Byron Bay local Chris Hemsworth, best known for his leading role in the Marvel action blockbusters, was rumoured to have taken up temporary residence at the property in 2020 during filming of the Netflix production, Escape from Spiderhead.
Property records show an original beach shack stood on the 556sq m corner block when it was last purchased by Jaclyn Morris for $3.2m in 2011.
The old house was demolished to make way for the striking new build in 2016.
Mr Mian said the sale was unconditional, and demonstrated high-end buyers’ continued appetite for absolute beachfront real estate in the Coast’s most expensive suburb of Mermaid Beach.

“Winter is usually quiet, but in the last ten days alone I have sold more than $45m in luxury property to local and interstate buyers,” Mr Mian said.
“I am experiencing massive demand for prestige properties and while stock is still extremely tight you can expect to see more luxury sales taking place off market.”
He said the buyers of the contemporary abode were locally based and planned it make it their permanent home.

Property records show the block was previously listed for sale in 2014 before construction of the new house had commenced.
The listing at that time stated the vendor had purchased elsewhere, but the property did not sell.
REA PropTrack data shows the median house price in Mermaid Beach was up 45 per cent over the last 12 months to a whopping $2.85m.
