ELEVEN Gold Coast suburbs had record-breaking sales this year with buyers paying top dollar to secure prime real estate.
Among the standout suburb breakers was a luxury estate in Tallebudgera Valley, an all-white coastal-inspired house in Mermaid Waters and a huge trophy home that also broke Qld’s auction record when it sold.

Michael Kollosche, principal of Kollosche — Broadbeach, said with a lack of stock on the market, buyers were willing to pay a premium for property.
“The market has obviously remained very buoyant and strong and stock levels have been tight,” Mr Kollosche said.
“The increased cost of construction has kept prices of established homes up and with the amount of work and public infrastructure works going on it makes it extremely hard to get builders.”

In the Hinterland, a trophy home known as Dahlia Estate fetched $11.2m under the hammer in December, smashing the suburb record by $5.9m.
The Tallebudgera Valley property includes a house built into the side of a hill with a long list of luxury features from a helipad and outdoor gym to a resort-style pool and tennis court.
The previous suburb record was $5.3m paid in August, 2021 for a house at 113 Monday Drive.
43 Markeri St, Mermaid Waters.
A Mermaid Waters property known as the “White House” sold for $7.3m in November, beating the suburb record by $2.02m.
The sprawling two-level home at 43 Markeri St was among the country’s most popular listings on property portal realestate.com.au when it hit the market.
With vistas across the water to the Gold Coast city skyline, the immaculately designed, near-new home offered a property with entertaining, outdoor living, and wellbeing built into its design.
The previous record was 62 Lakeview Blvd, which sold for $5.28 million in November, 2021.
103/1 Haig Street, Coolangatta.
On the southern Coast, a luxury apartment in Coolangatta sold for $4.035m in April, smashing the previous record of $2.85m.
The property was in the ‘Elysee’ residences and was the only house within the beachfront complex.
41 Stockman St, Kingsholme
To the north and an Instagram-famous dream home inspired by a country barn sold for $3.075m in April, smashing the suburb record in the emerging semirural community of Kingsholme.
The sale beat the previous high of $2.667m set when the same property first changed hands in August, 2021.
Alston, at 5 McMillan Court, Southport.
The biggest sale of the year on the Gold Coast was the $24.8m deal for Alston, at 5 McMillan Court, Southport.
Tucked behind wrought-iron gates, the tri-level trophy home covers 2451sq m and is surrounded by parklike grounds on a block spanning 3442sq m.
The home’s distinctly European-style porte-cochere, designed by architect Michael Witty, is unmissable as you cruise along main river.
It beat the previous Southport record of $23.75m, also held by Alston when it sold in March, 2021.
