Qld’s richest dentist rents mansion next door for $7k a week

1300 SMILES founder Daryl Holmes has advertised his newest Main Beach mansion for rent
QUEENSLAND’S richest dentist Daryl Holmes is the owner of the Gold Coast’s most expensive rental property — an absolute beachfront mansion which was previously leased for $7,000 a week.
The Townsville-based founder of 1300 SMILES Dentists snapped up the trophy home at Main Beach for $9.8m at auction in June and has listed the home for rent with Collectiv Asset Management and Amir Prestige.
Dr Holmes, who last year reportedly pocketed $70m from the sale of the 1300 SMILES network to the Abano Group, also owns the Hamptons-style trophy home right next door, which was rented for $7,000 a week through Kollosche in 2021.

The most recent purchase brings Dr Holmes’ oceanfront investment to a hefty $16m for a total of 1,369sq m of land with absolute beach frontage.
Both properties are zoned for medium density residential development.
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom home at 3537 Main Beach Pde was this week’s highest priced rental property on the Gold Coast advertised on www.realestate.com.au.

While the updated weekly rental price is under negotiation, the new tenant will fork out up to $7,500 a week as well as $30,000 in bond to call the dreamy property known as ‘The Beach House’ home.
Listing agent Edward Smyth, of Collectiv Asset Management, said the swish digs had drawn international interest from cashed-up expats.
“The luxury market tends to move in offmarket circles, having the greatest success securing tenants who are either internationally based or expats,” Mr Smyth said.

The four-level home sold under the hammer following a marketing campaign by Amir Mian, of Amir Prestige.
It was described as, “a rare and remarkable property” on a corner block, just footsteps to the sand.
Features included a split-level lounge and dining zone with generous galley-style kitchen, full-floor master suite with dressing room, modern ensuite and private balcony, and a large multipurpose space plus sauna on the basement level.
Mr Mian said “multiple inquries” had been received from potential tenants, with most interest fielded from Sydney.
He said the weekly rent would be between $7,000 and $7,500.
Dr Holmes has owned this Hamptons-style abode since 2015
Dr Holmes, who served as chairman of the North Queensland Cowboys NRL club, bought the neighbouring Main Beach property for $6.5m in 2015. It was last advertised for rent in November 2021, but the leasing agent has confirmed it is no longer tenanted, with Dr Holmes holding the property for “private use”.
The high-profile dentist and businessman has been an active player in Qld’s luxury market, also splashing a record $6m on a Townsville statement home in Castle Hill last year.
The ASX-listed chain of dental practices was founded by Dr Holmes in 1992 and has grown to a network of more than 30 facilities across Queensland, Sydney and Adelaide, according to the brand’s website.
