It’s a first home buyer’s dream — an original solid brick home oozing with renovation potential and located on a huge block close to some of the Coast’s best beaches.
Within just 20 minutes, 89 eager buyers had been through the doors of 17 Blamey Dr, Tugun at the first open home inspection, while seven offers were received from buyers who hadn’t even set foot inside the property.
More attended mid-week, including primary school teacher, Chantelle Kidd. The first home buyer and her partner, Sam Anderson, a structural engineer, are on the hunt for a renovator in a quiet neighbourhood.

Mr Anderson said the couple initially looked at new homes in the northern Coast suburbs, but preferred the southern beaches’ village atmosphere and proximity to the border as Ms Kidd works in NSW.
“We started off looking for a newer established home, but as house prices have become so inflated we are now looking for a renovator project,” Mr Anderson said.
“We’ve put in a couple of offers but we haven’t yet been to an auction. It will be a more daunting experience being such a big investment and with the market so hot you are up against big competition, but a lot of sellers are preferring auctions in this market.”
The beachside suburb of Tugun presents the best auction opportunity for buyers this spring selling season.
REA Group data highlighted Tugun as the QLD suburb presenting the best opportunity for buyers this spring selling season.
While auction numbers were up in each of the top ten suburbs, views per listing had either dropped in 2021, or climbed by only a small amount.
Auction listings in Tugun were up 25 per cent since last year but online views were down 11 per cent.
Marketing agent Mishy Canning, of LJ Hooker, said the three-bedroom home on an 800sq m block with a studio apartment downstairs was located within an area known as “The Pocket” which had experienced huge recent growth.
High ceilings allow for plenty of natural light through the home.

REA data shows 35 auctions were advertised in Tugun so far in 2021, compared with 28 during the same time period last year.
Views per listing averaged 4,697 in the last six months, down from 5,268 over the previous half year.
But hot buys like Blamey Dr are pulling in big views, with the online listing clocking around 7,000 hits since hitting the market.
The home will be auctioned at 10am on September 5 by Nigel Long.
There are three bedrooms and a self-contained studio apartment downstairs.
