Their clients wanted a “luxury urban vibe”.

Famous from their stint on TV series The Block, the sisters this year launched the second season of The Design Duo, which takes viewers on the journey of curating the one-of-a-kind luxurious waterfront residence.
“This is our biggest ever project to date, and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product,” Lysandra said.
“We have worked on this build for two and a half years and have put our blood, sweat and tears into this project, but seeing the homeowner’s reaction to the finished result made it all worth it.
“This is what reminds us why we do what we do.”

The bathroom has that “ trendy Melbourne” vibe.
The no-expenses-spared custom-build features bespoke details and high-end fixtures.
“Our clients wanted a luxury urban vibe,” Lysandra said.
“Think trendy Melbourne home but on a waterfront property on the Gold Coast.
“The property has a level of sophistication but has also been designed so that it won’t date.”
The five-bedroom four-bathroom single-storey house is on a double block and features a theatre, pool, atrium, boat ramp among its standout features.

The house features gold tapware.
The twins said they weren’t immune to Covid-related delays while the build took shape.
“It was nothing out of the norm that anyone else building or doing renovations during Covid experienced — a few delays on products due to supply,” Alisa said.
“We had also planned on travelling to site for most of the project, however due to travel restrictions we had to pivot and do daily video calls and change how we would normally undertake a project of this size.
“If Covid taught us anything, it’s learning to be adaptable in how we work, and accepting that we may need to pivot.”

The finished product.
The twins said the Gold Coast design scene was growing rapidly and heading away from coastal style.
“We’ve seen a shift away from the coastal/ beach style home that is typically associated with the Gold Coast,” Alisa said.
“More and more, people want to express their individuality through their home space and interior style, so we’ve seen much more diversity in both architecture and design.

The renovation features bespoke details and high-end finishes.
The shower pushes the boundaries with its dark colour palette and gold tapware.
“Residential and commercial projects are popping up all over the place and you can see different styles becoming prevalent, especially the ever-increasing alfresco area.
“The Gold Coast generally has great weather and beautiful natural surrounds, so creating a dedicated outdoor area that integrates with the interiors is a no-brainer.
“The ever popular blend between indoor and outdoor spaces also adds value to a property, as more and more homeowners are seeking this.”

The bedroom.
The pair said interior design was essential in creating cohesiveness through a home.
“These days, people also spend more time at home with the increase in work from home arrangements, so people take more pride in styling their homes,”
“Interior design is an extension of your personal style.”
New episodes of The Design Duo air weekly until March 6.
