Gold Coast property ‘Poorinda’ at Mount Nathan going under the hammer

Poorinda at 708 Maudsland Rd, Mount Nathan is set to go under the hammer.
It’s fireplaces and red wine in winter then sunsets and champagne in summer at a Gold Coast Hinterland hideaway that’s akin to its own private resort.
Set on 3.85ha, ‘Poorinda’ at Mount Nathan sleeps up to 22 people across multiple buildings and includes a three-bedroom homestead, villa with loft, studio, and a separate two-bedroom cottage.

Entertain poolside.
The property is on a hillside.
Perched on the hillside, the property offers sweeping views to the west and also boasts a central deck overlooking a 25m lap pool and sunken spa, along with fenced paddocks, dams, horse stables, and a round yard and grassed arena.
Used as an Airbnb for over 12 years, the property has ranked on the short stay accommodation site’s ‘most wish-listed’ on multiple occasions.

The home is a place to relax and soak up the views.

For owner Kerri-Lea Harris it has also been a cherished family home after she fell in love with the location and view 24 years ago.
“I was halfway down the driveway when I knew I had to have it,” she recalled.
“There was simply nothing else like it.”

There is no shortage of space here.
At the time the property included the homestead and villa, but over the course of a series of renovations was extended to encompass a resort-style entertaining area and pool, along with additional accommodation.
“In the first renovation, we added the large timber deck with sunken spa, then we built the shed and stables, and added the 25m lap pool with wet edge and horizon edge,” Ms Harris said.
“We also turned the top shed into the two-bedroom apartment and the rest has just been landscaping and renovations along the way.”

The property sleeps 22 people.
Unwind at Poorinda.
Describing its style as country-chic, Ms Harris said the home was a place to relax, unwind and take in the view.
“It’s a place of big skies and big sunsets,” she said.
“There are lots of different sitting areas where you can enjoy a different view every day across the different seasons.
“My favourite place is the spa with a glass of red at sunset just taking in the gloaming as the colours are different all the time.”

The kitchen.
One of Australia’s first ever Airbnbs, the home has attracted countless guests over the years.
“We’ve had lots of overseas guests from places such as Japan, China and Singapore and one Christmas it hosted a French family,” Ms Harris said.
“There have been hen’s weekends, and even a couple of weddings, but we’ve also enjoyed our own milestone moments with family and friends and they’re sad to see it go.
“Nearly everyone arrives and says the photos don’t do it justice. There’s so much space, so much warmth and such beauty.”

The pool makes for a great place relaxation spot.
The games room.
A major drawcard of the property is its proximity to the Gold Coast, with Carrara a 15-minute drive away, while the heart of Surfers can be reached within 30 minutes.
“You get all the amenities of the Gold Coast but with the serenity of the Hinterland,” Ms Harris said.

There are endless options at Poorinda.
After almost a quarter of a century enjoying her Hinterland hideaway, Mr Harris said the time had come to sell.
“It’s time to move on, have a change and let someone else love it and live in it,” she said.
“They might be big family, perhaps it will be a yoga or health retreat, but I’ll be fascinated to see what its next chapter holds.”
Josh Thomas of Ray White Prestige is taking the property to auction on July 4.
