Gold Coast homeowner turns dream into reality

Zarma at 5 Monte Vista Court, Broadbeach is going to auction.
The vision of “Zarma” came to its creator in a nocturnal epiphany, compelling her to transform a fleeting reverie into a breathtaking architectural reality.
Chelsea Barlow, who works as a designer at Barlow Building with husband and builder Sam Barlow, has made a literal dream a reality at 5 Monte Vista Court, Broadbeach.
Zarma at Broadbeach Waters has a big street presence.
Make a splash in the pool.
“We joke about it now, but this home and the name Zarma came to me in a dream, and I woke up and said to Sam – I know what we have to do and what we have to call it,” Ms Barlow said.
“Throughout the build we had other names, but Zarma stuck – in my dream I could even see the name on the fence.”

Inside Zarma.
Zarma includes plenty of natural products to create a calming energy.
Ms Barlow said the pair toyed with building a “typical bright white Gold Coast home” before taking a punt on the “warm and calm” aesthetic Zarma has become.
“We personally love the vibe at the Calile Hotel in Brisbane, so we had some inspiration from that and matched it with our desire to use raw, earthy materials,” Ms Barlow said.
“Barlow Building wants to be known for stepping outside of the box and Zarma definitely shows that we’re capable of doing just that.
“Being so rooted to using natural products has created a calming energy – the way the imperfections in the materials offset each other – this is our dream home and we have put everything into it.”
Zarma is on the waterfront at Broadbeach Waters.
The dining room.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom abode features a raft of luxury features and showstopping craftsmanship, from heated internal and external flooring and travertine tiling to handmade lighting and floor to ceiling glazing.
Each bedroom has its own ensuite built to “resort-style” specification.
“The bedrooms and bathrooms flow like a high-end hotel – there are no doors in between,” Ms Barlow said.
“It gives you that sense of openness and calm.”
The dining and lounge room overlooks the pool.
There is a designer kitchen with butler’s pantry, Italian travertine stone island bench and integrated appliances.
Outside the alfresco entertaining area and pool plays out like a mid-century modern retreat, with two-tiled shelf seats to capitalise on the wide waterfront vista and north-facing sun.
Entertain in style.

Ms Barlow said special features include the “must haves” Mr Barlow integrates into every luxury build.
“Sam doesn’t put any heads on his doors, so every single door is floor to ceiling which creates such an incredible sense of space with the 3.3m ceilings,” she said.
“Our signature is also the flush transitions throughout – there are no steps up or down into showers or rooms or anything like that.”
Zarma goes to auction on June 14 via Michael Kollosche and Marco De Vincentiis of Kollosche Broadbeach.
