Coastal Barn Dream home snapped up in 4 days for record price

The all-white designer home on Stockman St, Kingsholme

AN Instagram-famous all-white dream home inspired by a country barn has been snapped up for $3.075 million just four days after hitting the market.

The sale price smashed the suburb record in the emerging semi-rural community of Kingsholme, north of the Gold Coast, eclipsing the previous high of $2.667m set when the same property first changed hands in August 2021.

The home was built for entertaining

Marketing agent Brad Wilson, of Ray White Upper Coomera, said the sprawling single-level home known as the ‘Coastal Barn Dream’ attracted instant attention when it was listed late last week, with a number of private inspections taking place over the weekend and strong interest from interstate buyers.

Two offers were received, with a local buyer signing a cash unconditional contract for just over the listed price of $3m.

Mr Wilson said the five-bedroom, three-bathroom Stockman St home on a 4189sq m lot “ticked a lot of boxes” for the buyer and their family — but they planned on replacing the property’s full-sized flood-lit basketball court.

“They are going to be doing quite a bit of work, believe it or not,” Mr Wilson said.

“The new owner wants to build another big shed on the basketball court because they’ve decided they don’t need that.

“They are a local family with older kids who wanted a bit more land.”

The 535sq m home was built over five months in 2019 by Tai Cecil and his interior stylist wife, Lauren, who has built a social media following of more than 70,000 showcasing the property’s glamorous breezy aesthetic.

Located in the Montego Hills estate by Villawood Properties, it has 6m-high cathedral ceilings, reconstructed timber floors, and an expansive floorplan with four separate living areas.

It has five bedrooms and three bathrooms

The striking kitchen is equipped with quartz stone benchtops, two ovens and a butler’s pantry, while the home’s custom finishes include full-height brass and timber barn doors, plantation shutters, and bespoke cabinetry with brass accents.

Glass stacker doors open onto an entertaining area with outdoor kitchen, barbecue and fire pit, plus a heated magnesium pool and separate 130sq m barn used as a home office and gym.

“It’s a special home, and it’s a credit to the first owners who created a property that would be a dream home for anyone,” Mr Wilson said.

“It certainly was a dream home for the vendors, who made the decision to sell due to a change in their personal circumstances.”

Property records show the home was last purchased by Antony and Caryna Khan.

House prices in Kingsholme have picked up almost 6 per cent over the past 12 months, to a median of $1.645m.

Mr Wilson said demand for acreage homes in the area remained strong, particularly for properties with unique, high-end attributes.
