8 Koomooloo Ct, Mermaid Waters
Classic coastal style proved its timeless appeal with Gold Coast buyers as two high-end homes sold under the hammer for more than $2 million each at separate hotly contested auctions.
A tense bidding duel between the last two remaining buyers closed the sale of a low-set home at 8 Koomooloo Ct, Mermaid Waters, with buyer’s agent Matt Srama making the top offer of $2.145 million on behalf of a local family.
His clients, waiting outside the property in their car, were thrilled to claim the keys after heated competition from the underbidders, a Melbourne-based family in search of a Queensland holiday home.

The 2022-built four-bedroom, two-bathroom home was marketed by Ray White agents, Conner Malan and Daniel Donovan, with the protracted auction called by Apollo Auctions director, Justin Nickerson.
Mr Malan said 11 bidders registered for the 680sq m property, with 6 active as the auction opened at $1.8m.
Proceedings paused when the price reached the reserve of $2.06m, but 3 bidders remained in the fight, firing another 10 or more bids in increments from $10,000.
Mr Malan said the home’s single-level floorplan with separate guest studio and a glamorous pool and mosaic-tiled spa appealed to a wide demographic of buyers.
Floor-to-ceiling windows and raked rooflines add to the home’s airy ambience and easy flow between indoor and outdoor living.

“The whole place is so beautifully done, and we’ve had a hot debate in the office about whether to call it Palm Springs or coastal because it really offers the best of both,” Mr Malan said.
And at Burleigh Heads, a contemporary four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in the popular beachside community of Koala Park sold at auction for $2.1m.

The 249sq m property was marketed by Troy Fitzgerald, of Ray White, with four bidders registered for the auction, which was called by Mitch Palmer.
Features of the Qld Master Builders award-winning house at 2/1 Guyra Ave included light-filled open living spaces with high quality finishes such as European Oak flooring, bespoke lighting and VJ panelling.
Mr Fitzgerald said the 2020-built property’s modern coastal style proved very popular through the campaign, with a local couple taking home the keys.
“A lot of people were saying it was a very timeless style and design,” he said.
“It was on trend from a few years ago when it was built, and it will stay on trend.”
