38 Horizon Ave, Ashmore is going to auction on December 7.
Curves, concrete, and calm – this Ashmore home showcases how a Japandi-inspired renovation can turn an ordinary home into a sanctuary of minimalist luxury.
From the moment Emily Facer stepped onto the site, the home’s curvaceous architecture and the tranquil backdrop of Sun Valley nature reserve set the stage for a bold transformation.
Alongside her husband Jamison, Emily heads Facer Renovations – a dynamic duo where her creative vision meets his expert building skills.

This was the pair’s third major project and their most ambitious yet, blending Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian warmth to create a space that feels both functional and inviting.
Japandi architecture has been most prominently seen in modern homes, boutique hotels, and interior design projects across Tokyo, Copenhagen, and Stockholm.
The aesthetic focuses on functional beauty, blending minimalist style with craftsmanship, sustainability, and a calming atmosphere.

Could this luxury home smash the suburb record?
Ms Facer said the natural textures, clean lines, and a calming palette of the project’s transformation showcases their signature style: timeless elegance with a contemporary twist.
“I would say we are becoming known for creating unique aesthetics but with a neutral palette, so it is inviting to all kinds of buyers,” Ms Facer said.
“We chose this site purely on how we felt when we visited the first time – the skyline views in an elevated street with a bush backdrop was something so special.”

The home, named Horizon, features four light-filled bedrooms, a sleek chef’s kitchen with bespoke cabinetry and a butler’s pantry and open-plan living that blends raw concrete, natural textures, and soft curves, flowing effortlessly into a large alfresco area framed by bushland.
“We feel that a family, possibly with teenagers, will really love this space,” Ms Facer said.
Custom-built wardrobes in every bedroom, along with streamlined, minimalist wet areas, high ceilings, and abundant natural light, work together to create a serene and calming atmosphere.
The integration of eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient fixtures strengthens the home’s sustainable design, ensuring it is both environmentally conscious and functional.

The property offers a double garage with ample storage and is conveniently located near local amenities, schools, and walking trails, combining functionality with a peaceful lifestyle.
Ms Facer said the team was in its “curve era,” with rounded edges likely to remain a key feature in future projects.
“We do still love the mid-century look, just not the darker palette,” she said.
Next, Facer Renovations is taking on a waterfront property, where they plan to push the boundaries of design with stunning views and a fresh approach to coastal living.
The property is going to auction via Mitch Palmer and Bailey Collie of Ray White Broadbeach Waters on December 7.
